Psp Hacking/flashing Help!?

I have a PSP Slim and Lite and I’m trying to get Custom Firmware on it.
My PSP version is 5.03 and I’ve downloaded the CFW update and put it in “PSP>GAMES>UPDATE” but it’s not letting me install it as it’s already 5.03, but I thought it would be alright as on forums it says that you don’t need a pandoras battery and magic memory stick for any verion ABOVE 5.03.
I have downloaded ‘ChickHEN r2′ and put the .rar file in the root memory stick folder and transferred the ‘ChickHEN r2>Slim>ChickHEN’ folder to “PSP>PHOTO”. I then open the images and my PSP screen flashed green and then rebooted. I then download HC’s Recovery Flasher and transfered the “Recovery” folder to “PSP>GAME” and that just contains a eboot folder. When I started my PSP and started HC’s RF v1.20 at this point I’m not sure whether to press “Flash new 3.71-M33-4″ or “Flash new 4.01-M33-2″ so I tried both and pressed “reset (format) settings as well” and they both said:

ERROR OPENING 371.PBP! (0×80010002)
Unassigning flashs….
flash2: wasn’t assigned – that’s OK
flash3: wasn’t assigned – that’s OK
Loadind updater modules
Error 80010002 loading/staring nand_updater.prx
Error 80010002 loading/staring nand_lfatfs_updater.prx
Error 80010002 loading/staring nand_lflash_fatfmt_updater.prx
How can I solve this as emulators etc. won’t work without it.

    I’m not sure really what the problem is, I just bought the Pandora and the magic memory stick online. You need a pandora battery, do you have this? Also, I dont reccomend hacking the psp, it absolutely RUINED my battery life. it works fine, but I can only get about 1-2 hrs on a single charge.
