Is This Country Really So Brainwashed Into Thinking That Anyone Bigger Than A Size 10 Is Fat?

And into thinking that its quite okay to insult and offend people so bluntly with their views?
I’ve come across some online forums recently and even heard people talking and commenting on what they think is or isn’t fat and the general consensus seems to be that a size 12 upwards is ‘fat’… are you kidding me?? I was in a room with a guy spouting this rubbish about a woman and when another guy stuck up for her and said she was just curvy and normal looking he told him ‘well your missus is obviously a chunk isnt she?’ Charming.
Yet on the flip side apparantly anything smaller than an 8 is too skinny… so am I correct in thinking that the whole nation should all be 8-10 regardless of build or height? Does the same apply to guys then? All guys should be really toned and muscley with a 6 pack and obliques and any shorter guys, chunkier guys or slimmer guys should all be made to feel invalidated?
These peoples argument was ’saying the national average is a size 16 doesnt make it okay cos we are the 2nd most overweight country in the world.’
This is totally incorrect we are actually pretty low down in comparison to many other countries such as USA and Mexico and even Australia!
they were also saying that there is no way anyone can be a size 14/16 and be healthy…
Well… i’m only 5′4 but currently a 12/14, nearer a 14 and am definitely not fat, or unhealthy! I’m in the forces for starters – they dont make a habit of passing your medical if you are so ‘fat and unhealthy’, I eat well, dont drink a lot and enjoy running 10k’s in my spare time….
I used to be a size 6/8 and I saw a photo the other day that shocked me into realising how bad I looked, my skin was terrible, flat chested and my face looked gaunt and I looked like a rake with clothes on…
Some people look good that small, others dont, but would I fit in with these peoples ‘ideals’ better looking like that?
I know a lot of women from a tiny size 6/8 to women who wear a size 14/16 but all still look absolutely gorgeous and healthy and men chase after them.
I’m absolutely shocked as to how shallow and judgemental people are in this country, the women I can kind of understand because it obviously made them feel better about themselves to call other women fatter even if they clearly arent fat, but as for men… most of them havent got a clue about womens clothes size yet were quite openly calling girls fat, ugly and unhealthy and saying they wouldnt date anyone that ‘big’. And they drool over the likes of Beyonce etc… who is definitely not an 8 but still looks gorgeous! It drives me mad!
Im interested to hear other peoples opinions on this cos in the past years when ive brought similar issues up i’ve been made out like im being bitchy or bitter… :/ So many women seem to have this attitude that ‘its okay to be a slightly bigger size but really we should all be jealous of people who are thinner…’ really DON’T get it, whats wrong with just making the most of what you are and appreciating everyones differences, realising there really is no ‘ideal’ other than just being healthy and not being so bloody RUDE about others!
Anyone else agree or do you think that size 12 is fat and if so.. why??
thanks! :)

The sizes must have changed since I was a teenager in the 1960s. I was a size 12 then and weighed 8stone 4lbs. I was 34 bust 24 waist and 36 hips. I am 5ft 3ins tall. Tell me that’s fat!!!

No I do not think a size 12 and up necessarily means someone is fat. I am 5′11, wear a size 14, run 3 miles-4 times a week. My BMI is 26 which is completely normal. I am perfectly in my weight category I am just very tall and curvy and athletic. I have played sports and ran all my life and no one has ever considered me fat and I have never considered myself fat. I actually used to be bulimic and anorexic when I was in my teen years and wore a size 6/8 (which I am not saying is tiny, but for me at almost 6 feet tall I was very unhealthy and actually ended up in the hospital with electrolyte imbalances)…. I’d say that if I posted a pic up of me, not one person could honestly say I looked fat….

    My view has always been
it depends on the body make up
some women are big boned and or just an apple shaped
height and clothing manufacturers is also a factor

You’ve shared everything else…why not your weight????!!!
I’ll add…that the ideal weight for even a LARGE framed woman at your height is 125-142lbs. So..ask yourself.
Okay…size 12/14 at 5′4″?????…that’s seems rather ‘plump’. My mental visualization of that is ummm ‘chunky’. In other words, I’m 5′4 size 3/5.(BRAGGING RIGHTS!).
But I guess it all depends on you body shape etc etc..everyone is unique. But size 12/14 is pretty big for someone of 5 foot 4 inches. You can be beautiful…..you can be in the military…..the US average size for a woman can be 16…..you can run even 20k…but you can still be fat.
So..as far as your question…do I agree w you or do I think that size 12 is fat….?
    Well…size 12 is not fat on a 6 foot+ woman!
It’s fat on a 5 foot 4 inch woman. It doesn’t matter how curvy they could be.

I am a uk size 8 and getting smaller. I hope that I never get larger than this. When I was younger I can remember that my apperence was never an issue with me but after gaining afew pounds during puberty, my family would taunt me by calling me fat and telling me that, I looked pregnant. I became anorexic and bulimic. I still keep a food diary, the folder with skinny models which I collected from pro ana sites and various magazines, I look in the mirror and look to see if I can see any bones pertruding because when I see them, I know that I’ve done well. The thought of ever becoming larger than a 8 frightens me. Pregnant women sicken me. I can’t stand being near them and I do judge women who are larger than a size 12. I see them and I hope that I never get bigger than I am.

No way! I do not think a size 12 and up is fat at all! I am a size 10 and people always say how thin I am , I am 5′7 and 135lbs, I just have big hips and breasts…. I could see myself a size or two bigger and I know I would not be fat. Hell I ran cross country in college and still run to this day and have always been well within my weight range and never wore a size smaller than a 10.

    Lmao these guys suck.
I am AA…just saying because in my culture we usually have more curves.
    Im a 38DD, and that’s being modest, because I think I can fit a DDD, I just don’t wanna try it :(
My waist is relatively small, but I do have h i p s, and THIGHS…um, I could probably fit a 11 but my thighs won’t let me so I’m a 13. And due to my breast I wear a LG shirt.
Just because you’re that size doesn’t mean that you’re Fat. As with myself it’s my thighs and my breast.
    I’m 5′11 and 170. I’m not fat. And pretty height/weight porportionate.
Guys get shocked when I tell them my weight expecting me to weigh less.
Lets just be real, everyone has a differnt body shape. I used to be model skinny, but I had a child a year ago, I love my curves, my new thighs, breast, and a$$. I’m keeping it all!
